    AksIM-2 is a non-contact high performance off-axis absolute rotary encoder designed for integration into space-constrained applications. AksIM's self-calibration feature allows compensation of the ring's eccentricity error after encoder installation and improves system accuracy up to 5 times. A hollow ring, true absolute functionality and high speed operation make this encoder suitable for many applications.

    The AksIM-2 encoder system consists of an axially magnetised ring and a readhead.

    The encoders come with SSI, BiSS and asynchronous serial communication interfaces and offer a range of binary resolutions to 20 bits per revolution.

    The encoder operates from -30 °C to +85 °C or -40 °C to +105 °C with extended temperature range option and is resistant to shock and vibrations.

    The AksIM-2 encoder has a built-in advanced self-monitoring function, continually checking several internal parameters. Error reporting, warnings and other status signals are available on all communication interfaces and are visualised with the on-board LED.

    The AksIM-2 encoder system is suitable for use in industrial and medical applications.
    A typical application is a robotic arm joint with a cable feed running through the ring or a precision gearbox where the ring is attached onto the main transmission shaft.

    OrbisTM is an absolute, through-hole rotary encoder suitable for applications where a typical OnAxis encoder cannot be mounted at the end of the rotating shaft due to space constraints.
    The encoder comprises a diametrically magnetized permanent magnet ring and a printed circuit board. Geometric arrangement of 8 RLS’ proprietary Hall sensors on a PCB enables generation of one period of sine and cosine signals per mechanical magnet revolution. Moreover, it also enables cancellation of third harmonic component that becomes non-negligible at low magnet ride height.
    An adaptive filtering function ensures high resolution at low rotation speeds and low angle phase delay at high rotation speeds. OrbisTM also features an additional built-in self-calibration algorithm that improves encoder’s accuracy after installation.
    OrbisTM through-hole measuring principle allows customisation, with various board and magnet sizes to suit your application.

    The AksIM™ is a non-contact high performance off-axis absolute rotary encoder designed for applications with limited installation space. The compact, low profile readhead detects and evaluates the magnetic field of a thin, axially magnetized ring.
    The 49 mm ring offers 524,288 positions per revolution at a resolution of 19 bits while the larger, 80 mm ring, provides 1,048,576 positions at a resolution of 20 bits. The accuracy of the AksIM™ magnetic encoder system is better than ±0.1° and the maximum permissible speed is over 10,000 revolutions per minute.
    The low overall system height together with its true absolute functionality and high speed operation make the new single-track absolute encoder suitable for a wide range of applications including video-surveillance systems measuring the angle of camera rotation, robotic arm joints and motors for detecting position.

    The RM44/RM58 encoder-sensor base unit is designed for integration on to electric motors or other devices for shaft position and velocity measurement. A Hall sensor ASIC is moulded into the solid metal housing to achieve the highest IP ratings, high EMC immunity, extended operating temperature range and the best possible shock and vibration resistance.
    Available output options are 13 bit absolute SSI and/or 8192 cpr incremental. Many other options can also be provided including analogue sine/cosine, linear voltage as well as redundant functionality.
    With the provided magnet a system accuracy of 0.5 degrees is achievable. A range of magnetic actuators for easy integration onto or into the shaft is also offered for easy system integration.

    The RM44 encoder-sensor base unit is designed for integration onto electric motors or other devices for shaft position and velocity measurement.

     The RM44 with external zeroing is designed for setting the encoder zero position by using zero pen. It is designed for power supply voltage of 5 V only.

     Setting the zero position

    1. Install the magnetic actuator and RM44 encoder.
    Please refer to RM44 data sheet (RM44D01) for more information.
    2. Set the mechanical zero position.
    3. Use the zero pen to set the encoder zero position (see image): 
       3.1 Touch the Zero mark with the apex of the Zero pen - the status LED goes off.
       3.2 Hold the Zero pen for 3 seconds.
       3.3 The new Zero position is set when status LED goes RED.
